Supporting these many platforms, Fortnite has become one of the biggest esports games in the community. The game has also won multiple awards within a very short time of its existence. The game holds different modes that will be discussed in detail as we dig deeper into the game.

About Fortnite

Fortnite is an online video game that was developed and published in 2017, by Riot Games. The game is available on multiple platforms like Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Windows, iOS, and Android Devices. Holding these many platforms makes the game one of its kind. The game contains three different modes, which are Fortnite: Save the World, Fortnite: Battle Royale, and Fortnite Creative. Epic Games released the Fortnite: Save the World at the first glimpse. At first, the developers faced a lot of trouble while changing the Unreal Engine 3 to Unreal Engine 4. The developers wanted to change the theme of the game towards more cartoonish characters. These issues slowed the development of the game and eventually Epic Games launched it in 2017.

After the release of the Fortnite: Battle Royale, the game became much of a success. Epic Games decided to separate the development teams for Battle Royale and Save the World formats. In just two weeks, 10 million unique players enjoyed the Battle Royale and after the release of the mode in Nintendo Switch, this tally crossed 125 million players.

In 2018, the revenue of the Battle Royale mode crossed hundreds of millions of dollars. An esports analysis firm, SuperData Research estimated that Fortnite made $2.4 Billion in just 2018.

Fortnite has become a global symbol for now. As multiple celebrities claim that they also play the game, the popularity of the game is going in an upward direction every day.

Fortnite Different Modes

The game contains three different modes that share the same general gameplay and engine otherwise. The three modes are Fortnite: Save the World, Fortnite: Battle Royale, and Fortnite Creative. In each mode, players follow the same mechanics of the game. However, there are several differences in each mode of the game. The Fortnite: Save the World is a cooperative tower-defense-shooter-survival game. In this mode, four different players connect to survive against some Zombie-like creatures. Apart from survival, players also have to defend the objects in the games with some tactics and fortifications.

In the Fortnite: Battle Royale, players are allowed to land in their favorite spot and start collecting equipment to fight each other. A total of 100 players land on the same map, where anyone can pick up the lying around weapons to fight. As time passes by, the map keeps on shrinking to a level where players cannot be far from each other. As the fight goes on, only one player becomes the Battle Royale winner.

Fortnite Creative Mode

Fortnite Creative gives the players a total free-hand to create worlds and battle arenas. With the release of the game in 2017, only Battle Royale and Save the World came out. However, in 2018, Epic Games launched the Creative mode as well. The creative mode is also compared to the Minecraft game or the sandbox mode, in which all the players are given the liberty to create their fortresses for their defence.

Players can knock down the already made buildings and collect the material to make their fortress. However, in all modes of the game, players can make some buildings, but in the Creative mode, players can also insert the Windows and Door in them. Epic Games encourages the players to be more innovative in the Creative mode of the game.

The most successful mode of the game, Battle Royale, has drawn more than 125 million players in less than one year of its release. The game has earned millions of dollars in a very short time to become one of the most successful esports games.

Fortnite Characters

Ever since its release in 2017, Fortnite has been sending out multiple updates and Battle Passes in which players can buy several skins for their characters. Fortnite only has five main characters since its launch. The company focuses on providing epic skins for the same characters. There are around 160 skins available for these five characters in Fortnite.

Players can purchase their favorite skins or could buy a Battle Pass in which they can receive plenty of rewards and sometimes the best skins. While queuing for a match, a player can select the type of skin they want to use for their character.

The most famous Fortnite models have Ramirez, Jonesy, Wildcat, Banshee, and Headhunter. These five models are known as the OG Default outfits. If a player doesn’t buy a skin for any of the characters, all of them then appears in the default outfit.
