About Indian 2000 Guineas
Like other Indian Classics, the Indian 2000 Guineas also forbids foreign-born horses. and is open to only Indian born and bred colts and fillies with an age limit of 3 years. The Royal Western India Turf Club hosted the Indian 2000 Guineas for the first time in 1943, the same year when the club hosted the Indian 1000 Guineas and the Indian Derby.
The winner of all the 3 Indian Classics that year was Princess Beautiful, a filly ridden by jockey E Britt. The Indian 2000 Guineas continued to be hosted in January until 1949 when for the first time it was run twice – in January and in December.
